Trivia Questionâť“

How Did Norad begin to decide to track Santa's movements each Christmas Eve?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

A simple Saturday breakfast at Pita & Puff in Port Charlotte became unforgettable when a group of twelve local businessmen surprised their waitress with a tip of $1,000 placed quietly in an envelope.

Each year, these business owners gather at a local restaurant, choosing a new spot to perform this act of generosity, recognizing hardworking staff who often go unnoticed.

This year’s tradition continued under the coordination of Paul Newman (no, not THAT one....lol) of Port Charlotte Auto Repair & Fleet, who organizes the breakfast to highlight the importance of community support.

The emotional moment left the waitress nearly speechless, serving as a powerful reminder that kindness can brighten any day and strengthen community bonds.

In a world often focused on headlines and division, this local tradition stands as a beacon of simple, meaningful connection—proving that sometimes, the biggest impacts come from....

Boca Grande’s controversial new parking ordinance is causing a showdown between Lee County and Charlotte County.

Officials from both counties are set to meet for a joint conflict assessment on January 5, 2026, aiming to resolve their heated dispute.

The conflict centers on rules passed by Lee County limiting public parking on Boca Grande, requiring permits for residential zones, and capping downtown parking to three hours for non-residents.

Charlotte County leaders argue their residents are being unfairly restricted from beloved beaches, with Commissioner Christopher Constance pushing to maintain previous parking access.

The closed-door meeting at Punta Gorda Charlotte Library is open for public observation—though not for public comment.

If the counties can’t agree, Charlotte County is prepared to take legal action.

Meanwhile, confusion lingers as Lee County’s delayed ....

Port Charlotte Beach Park reopened this week, delighting local residents eager to reclaim their waterfront retreat after a prolonged closure.

The partial reopening allows access to the sandy beach, playground, tennis courts, and one boat ramp, providing a welcome return to familiar coastal pleasures.

Large sections remain off-limits, including the recreation center, swimming pool, and permanent restrooms, due to extensive construction and lingering hurricane damage.

The park, still an active work site, is undergoing a $32.7 million transformation with a new 20,751-square-foot recreation center and modern aquatic complex expected to withstand future storms.

This reopening follows months of advocacy from groups like the Buena Vista Property Owners Association and the “Reopen the Beach” committee, whose persistence pushed officials to let the community return.

While the full project won’t be completed until 2026 or early 2027, beachgoers can finally feel the sand between their toes, just be mindful of ...

Buc-ees brings new meaning to "Drive Thru" Delivery!

Jena and Nathan Birdsong were en route to the hospital when Jena’s labor intensified unexpectedly.

With little time to spare, they pulled into Buc-ee’s around 3:15 a.m., and by 3:16 a.m., their daughter Elaina Grace Birdsong made her dramatic debut, weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce.

Guided by phone from Mercy Birthplace – Springfield, Nathan helped deliver the baby just moments before police arrived.

The unique location earned Elaina the charming nickname “Little Buc-ee,” a story now cherished by family and celebrated with a special holiday ornament.

The Birdsongs, who aren’t regular Buc-ee’s shoppers, say the travel center will ...

A fierce parking dispute has gripped the Southwest Florida coast as Lee and Charlotte Counties clash over access to Gasparilla Island.

The heart of the conflict is the Boca Grande Causeway, owned by the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority—not either county.

In August 2025, Lee County launched strict parking regulations, slashing public parking and requiring residential permits, sparking anger across the Charlotte border.

Charlotte officials started formal mediation, and residents called for a boycott, refusing to visit the popular island.

Bridge toll statistics reveal the fallout: After years of rising traffic, August 2025 showed a rare 2% drop, marking a sharp break from record post-hurricane recovery.

With access controlled by one county, rules by another, and revenue at risk, the Bridge Authority now faces .....

đź’ˇ Answer to Trivia Question:

Tracking Santa's progress developed from a famous historical mistake from 1955 that led to the creation of the NORAD Tracks Santa Traditions. A misprinted Sears ad meant for kids to call Santa directed them to the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) instead, and Colonel Harry Shoup played along, starting the annual tracking event now run by NORAD, which offers live tracking, a website (noradsanta.org), and calls on Christmas Eve.
