Port Charlotte delivered a commanding performance Friday night, rolling past Dunbar 44–12 in a game that showcased the Pirates’ balance, physicality, and poise in key moments. After a measured first half that ended 10–0, the hosts broke the contest open after the break with a mix of timely defense and downhill running.
The turning point arrived early in the third quarter when defensive playmaker Ahmad’dra Greene scooped up a fumble and raced it back for a touchdown. The return ignited the home crowd and shifted momentum squarely to the Pirates, who controlled field position from there.
On the ground, Elias Pearl punctuated multiple late drives with short rushing scores in the fourth quarter, putting the game out of reach and underscoring Port Charlotte’s ability to lean on its run game when it mattered most.
Defensively, Port Charlotte set the tone throughout. The Pirates held Dunbar scoreless through the first three quarters, rallying to the ball and limiting explosive plays. Even as the Tigers found the end zone late, the margin and tempo remained firmly in Port Charlotte’s hands.
With the victory, the Pirates improved to 6–1 witha big one on the horizon, while the Tigers moved to 5–2.
From a one-score game at halftime to a runaway by night’s end, the Pirates showed the kind of closing power that demonstrates their ability to seize momentum as they travel into the season’s most consequential weeks. |
