Something Big Is Coming to Port Charlotte Matters subscribers...

And We Think You’re Going to Love It.

When Port Charlotte Matters first began, our mission was simple:

Keep our community positive & informed.

Since then, we’ve shared hundreds of local stories, highlighted amazing businesses, celebrated community events, introduced you to inspiring neighbors, covered City Commission meetings,  announced restaurant openings, reported breaking news, and helped connect our city like never before. And we want to thank the thousands who have subscribed and followed us. But we’ve always wanted to do more. Much more.

Over the past couple of months, we’ve been quietly building something that many of you have been asking for...And we’re almost ready to show it to you.

Introducing...

Port Charlotte  Matters LOCAL

Imagine if everything you wanted to know about Port Charlotte , lived in one place. Not just the news...Everything.

A place where you can quickly discover local businesses, upcoming events, restaurants, food trucks, open houses, yard sales, entertainment, community organizations, local services, shopping, and so much more. That’s exactly what Port Charlotte  Matters LOCAL is designed to become.

We envision it as Port Charlotte ’s Digital Main Street.

Looking for a great pizza place? Need an electrician? Wondering where the food trucks are today? Searching for a local dentist? Want to browse this weekend’s open houses? Who's having karaoke tonight? Interested in upcoming community events? Trying to support locally owned businesses? Instead of searching half a dozen different websites and Facebook groups... You’ll soon have one place to start.

Built exclusively for Port Charlotte. Not the Whole World.

Most online "directories" try to be everything to everyone. Our Business Showcase is taking the opposite approach. Port Charlotte

Matters LOCAL was built exclusively for the people who live, work, shop, eat, and play right here in Port Charlotte. That means you’ll discover businesses you may have driven past a hundred times. Restaurants you’ve never tried. Events you didn’t know existed. And local companies that deserve far more attention than they’ve been getting.

More Than a Directory?

Calling it a “directory” almost doesn’t do it justice. Port Charlotte Matters LOCAL is your beautiful Port Charlotte  Business Showcase App, where you'll discover:

  • Eat Local (restaurants)
  • Pizza & Subs
  • Food Truck Locations
  • Karaoke Nights
  • Community events
  • Open houses
  • Real Estate Agents
  • Pet services
  • Hair and beauty
  • Nail salons
  • Dental services
  • Accounting, Bookkeeping & Tax Services

  • Air conditioning companies
  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
  • Home builders
  • Lawn and garden services
  • Cleaning companies
  • Local classifieds
  • Community events
  • Yard sales
  • (We might even let the lawyers in....lol)
  •

Any Categories we've initally overlooked won't be for long

because we’ll continue adding over time.

If it matters to Port Charlotte

, it will belong in Port Charlotte  Matters LOCAL.

So grab your phone and get it ready!

Because it's built for Your Phone

Let’s be honest. Most of us don’t sit down at a computer when we’re looking for a restaurant or wondering where the nearest food truck is parked. We grab our phones. That’s why Port Charlotte

Matters LOCAL has been designed with mobile users in mind. Fast. Easy. Organized. Whether you’re sitting at home, downtown, or waiting in a parking lot wondering what to do next...Everything will be just a few taps away.

Supporting the Businesses That Support Our Community

One of the things we love most about Port Charlotte  is its locally owned businesses. These are our neighbors, after all. They’re the people sponsoring youth sports, donating to local charities, supporting school fundraisers, and investing in our community every single day.

Port Charlotte Matters LOCAL is another way for us to help shine a spotlight on the businesses that make our city special.  Every Port Charlotte business will be granted a FREE Business Showcase so they can easily be found by every Port Charlotte Resident.  After all....

When local businesses succeed...Port Charlotte succeeds.

And We’re Just Getting Started... This isn’t the finish line.

It’s the foundation. We’ll continue adding new categories as needed, more events, additional businesses, special promotions, community features, and helpful tools based on YOUR feedback. Our goal is ambitious: To create the most comprehensive local resource Port Charlotte has ever had. One place. One community. Everything Port Charlotte!

Coming Soon...very soon!

We’re putting the finishing touches on Port Charlotte Matters LOCAL now, and we can’t wait to open the doors. Until then...

I hope the app will help new residents like me get familiar with Port Charlotte quickly. Seems like a great way to discover the city.

    Nick F.· Aug 19, 10:58 PM

If it’s easy and fast, I’ll definitely use it. The mobile-first approach is smart because we’re all on our phones these days.

We couldn’t agree more! That’s why Port Charlotte Matters LOCAL is built specifically for mobile users, fast, easy, and right at your fingertips.

  • RV
    Rachel V.· Aug 19, 10:30 PM

I can’t wait to find all the local hair and nail salons in one spot! This should make planning my next appointment much easier.

  • LC
    Lisa C.· Aug 19, 9:58 PM

The idea of everything Port Charlotte in one app is lovely, but how will it handle privacy and personal data? Hope they make that clear.

  • BS
    Ben S.· Aug 19, 9:46 PM

Will this app also have user ratings or is it just a business showcase? Would like to know what others think before trying new places.

  • SJ
    Sophie J.· Aug 19, 7:04 PM

I just hope they include smaller, lesser-known businesses and nonprofits too, not just the big ones. Those are often overlooked on other sites.

    • CD
      Carlos D.· Aug 21, 1:22 PM

Sophie J.Sophie, I hope so too! Those smaller spots really make our community unique.

  • TK
    Tony K.· Aug 19, 5:34 PM

Totally agree with supporting local businesses. When we shop local, the whole community benefits. Can’t wait to see this go live!

    • RP
      Rita P.· Aug 21, 1:02 PM

Tony K.Tony, yes! Local businesses are the heart of our city. Can’t wait either.

  • MH
    Maggie H.· Aug 19, 2:41 PM

It’s so hard to keep up with all local happenings. Having one digital main street would make community involvement a lot simpler.

  • JL
    Jason L.· Aug 19, 2:13 PM

I’m skeptical about how often it will be updated. A directory is only half useful if the info is stale. Fingers crossed they have a good system.

    • PM
      Port Charlotte MattersAuthor· Aug 19, 10:13 PM

We hear you, keeping information fresh is key. We’re building a solid system to update regularly and welcome feedback to keep everything current and useful.

  • GF
    Gina F.· Aug 18, 9:33 AM

As a real estate agent, this sounds promising. Hopefully it includes home listings and open houses as they said. That would be really useful.

  • PB
    Phil B.· Aug 18, 9:21 AM

Karaoke nights and food trucks in one app? Now you’re talking! I’m already looking forward to planning some fun weekends with this.

  • EN
    Erica N.· Aug 18, 8:26 AM

This would be great for finding new places to eat without the hassle of checking multiple apps and pages. Convenience is key!

    • PM
      Port Charlotte MattersAuthor· Aug 18, 11:21 PM

Absolutely, Port Charlotte Matters LOCAL is designed for that exact convenience, bringing everything local food and more into one handy place on your phone.

    • KM
      Kyle M.· Aug 19, 7:51 AM

Erica N.Erica, same here! Having all options in one place will save so much time.

  • CM
    Chris M.· Aug 18, 7:34 AM

I like that it’s free for businesses. Small local shops often can’t afford marketing like this. Hopefully it brings them more customers.

  • VR
    Vanessa R.· Aug 18, 6:08 AM

I hope the app has some kind of notification feature for events and specials. Would be great to get updates on local happenings automatically.

    • JK
      Jenna K.· Aug 19, 9:16 AM

Vanessa R.Vanessa, a notification feature would be awesome. I hate missing local deals.

  • MD
    Mark D.· Aug 18, 5:47 AM

Honestly, glad it’s not trying to be everything for everybody. Focusing on Port Charlotte only makes more sense and should keep it more relevant and less cluttered.

  • EK
    Ellen K.· Aug 18, 5:33 AM

Love the idea of spotlighting local businesses. We have so many gems here that don’t get enough attention. This is a win for our community.

    • PM
      Port Charlotte MattersAuthor· Aug 18, 12:04 PM

Thank you! Highlighting and supporting our local businesses is at the heart of what we’re doing, and we’re so excited to share these community gems with you.

  • GP
    Grace P.· Aug 18, 4:57 AM

Sounds great but what about senior citizens who don’t use phones much? Will this info be available in a newsletter or other format too?

    • PM
      Port Charlotte MattersAuthor· Aug 19, 1:48 PM

We definitely want to serve all community members. While the app is mobile-focused, we plan to continue our newsletter and explore other ways to share this info for those who prefer different formats.

  • JT
    Jameson T.· Aug 18, 4:52 AM

We definitely need a better way to find food trucks and community events. Looking forward to trying this out. Let’s hope it’s updated regularly!

    • NL
      Nina L.· Aug 19, 8:25 PM

Jameson T.Jameson, me too! I hate using outdated directories. Regular updates will be key.

  • SL
    Sandy L.· Aug 18, 4:45 AM

Anything that helps our city businesses thrive is welcome. My only hope is they include some honest reviews too, so people can make informed choices.

  • DH
    Derek H.· Aug 18, 4:26 AM

This could really help local places get more customers. Too often I hear people say they didn’t know about some great restaurant or service right in their neighborhood.

    • DF
      Darlene F.· Aug 20, 1:07 AM

Derek H.Derek, I hear that all the time. This might finally fix that problem.

  • MG
    Maria G.· Aug 18, 3:45 AM

Love that the app is mobile-focused. I’m always on my phone looking for local spots. I can’t wait to use it when I’m out and about in town!

    • PM
      Port Charlotte MattersAuthor· Aug 19, 3:42 PM

Thanks so much! We’re thrilled about the mobile-first design and can’t wait for you to find local spots effortlessly while you’re out and about.

  • TS
    Tom S.· Aug 18, 2:40 AM

Cool concept, but will the businesses have to pay after the free showcase? Also, how do they ensure all info stays up-to-date? That’s usually the problem with local directories.

    • PM
      Port Charlotte MattersAuthor· Aug 18, 7:24 PM

Great questions! The Business Showcase is free for all Port Charlotte businesses, and we’ll work closely with them to keep info accurate and up-to-date as part of our ongoing commitment.

  • KW
    Kathy W.· Aug 18, 1:56 AM

I’m always looking for local events and yard sales but hate digging through multiple sites. This sounds like exactly what we need around here.

    • PM
      Port Charlotte MattersAuthor· Aug 19, 4:09 PM

Exactly! Bringing local events and sales into one easy-to-navigate platform is a big part of our goal, so you’ll no longer need to search across multiple sites.

  • JR
    James R.· Aug 18, 1:48 AM

I like the idea but hope they keep the app lightweight and fast. Sometimes these directories get bloated and frustrating to use. Looking forward to seeing how they manage it specifically for Port Charlotte.

    • MS
      Megan S.· Aug 19, 9:06 PM

James R.Totally get that, James. I hope they keep it simple enough for quick use but still packed with good info.

  • LM
    Linda M.· Aug 18, 1:11 AM

Finally, a one-stop place for everything in Port Charlotte! It’s about time we had an app that makes supporting local businesses easy and convenient. Fingers crossed it’s as user-friendly as it sounds.

    • ST
      Sam T.· Aug 18, 4:22 AM

Linda M.Linda, fingers crossed! I’m hoping it’s straightforward since lots of apps get too complicated.
