Buc-ee's one step closer to fruition |
Three Land Use Amendment Requests passed by the Charlotte County Commisioners |
There were three specific land‑use changes that were approved by the Planning and Zoning Board on April 14, 2025,as part of the Harborview DRI Development Order (DO) amendments (Petitions 22LAD‑00000‑00007 & LAD‑25‑02). (specified in the accompanying image.)
Although these changes were procedural and technical in nature, they definitely could indirectly facilitate future commercial proposals.
They restructured and modernized the Harborview DRI’s legal and environmental framework. Importantly, they did not specifically approve a Buc‑ee’s, though the amended land-use capabilities (e.g., signage allowances, traffic improvements) certainly puts the plan to build a Buc-E's one step closer to fruition.
It's important to note that no Buc‑ee’s site plan or final store approval has been granted, and Buc-ee's representatives indicated that without any unanticipated delays, the actual opening would probably take another two years.
For those who want to play closer attention to what's happening concrning the Buc-E's, here’s a direct downloadable link to the Staff Report PDF that includes the Exhibit updates and detailed descriptions for the Harborview DRI Development Order (DO) amendments. |
